Starfish’s commitment to eliminating euthanasia
- Starfish has rescued 6,000 animals since its founding in 2006
- Starfish has a partnership with a high kill shelter located in rural Kentucky
- The Kentucky shelter euthanizes 200 dogs per month
- Starfish makes about 17 round-trips a year to the Kentucky shelter
- The rescued dogs are brought back to Starfishes facility in Batavia
- Dogs are placed in foster homes until they are adopted into their forever home
- Starfish established a low cost Spay/neuter program at the Kentucky shelter
A boy reaches down, picks up a starfish and throws it in the water. A man tells the boy, “Don’t you see how many there are? You will never be able to make a difference.”
The boy picks up another starfish, throws it into the ocean and says, “I made a difference for that one.”
Our dogs were rescued from the high kill shelter in Kentucky by Starfish. Starfish made a difference to them
