Earning Your Cyber Chip

This provides resources for completing or updating the Chip during this time of social distancing.
Cyber Chip Resources for all Grade Levels

Recharging Your Cyber Chip

  • All Cyber Chips will expire annually.
  • If you have already completed the for your Cyber Chip for your current grade level group this school year, you are done. (Consider reviewing the Internet Safety Pledge and the Scout Law and Cyber-Safery/Cyber-Bullying Pledge.)
  • If you earned the Cyber Chip for your current grade level group in a previous school year, you need to “RECHARGE” your Chip. To recharge, each Scout will need to go to Netsmartz and complete 2 new resources to recommit to net safety and netiquette.
  • After completing the NetSmartz activities, review and re-sign the Scout Law and Cyber-Safery/Cyber-Bullying Pledge. with your leader/adult helper In this time of social distancing have your adult helper may sign in place of a Troop Leader.
  • Send email to advancement coordinator to record the recharge of your Cyber Chip. Scouts, please remember to always include TWO adults on any emailed communications to Troop 23 Leaders. The second adult can be your parent or another leader.

Earning Your Cyber Chip — 5th Grade Scouts

  1. Complete the pages of the BSA Cyber Chip Workbook for Grades 4 & 5 for applicable to grade 5. Where the workbook refers to “discuss with your leader” you may substitute adult helper (parent, etc), or “teach your den” you can also substitute adult helper.
  2. Review the Scout Law and Cyber-Safety/Cyber-Bullying Pledge with your adult family member and complete the signature area.
  3. Send an email to your advancements coordinator letting them know that you have completed the Cyber Chip requirements for your age group. Scouts, please remember to always include TWO adults on any emailed communications to Troop 23 Leaders. The second adult can be your parent or another leader.

Earning Your Cyber Chip —  Scouts in Grades 6th through 12th

  1. Complete the pages of the BSA Cyber Chip Workbook for Grades 6-12 applicable to your current grade.  Where the workbook refers to “discuss with your leader” you may substitute adult helper (parent, etc) or “teach your ___” you can also substitute an adult helper, a parent or family member.
  2. Review the Scout Law and Cyber-Safety/Cyber-Bullying Pledge with your adult family member and complete the signature area.
  3.
